Do you believe you are owed mis-sold mortgage compensation but are unsure on the time limitations? Here at Mis-sold Mortgage Experts, we advise all our clients not to worry too much about time-barring. We believe that if you have experienced genuine financial misfortune as a result of a mis-sold mortgage, there should be no restrictions placed on obtaining the compensation you are owed.
In this blog, we are going to discuss the mortgage mis-selling process which includes outlining advisory limitations and explaining how they can be surpassed in order to receive the just compensation you deserve.
What is the deadline for mis-sold mortgage claims?
Currently, there are some guidelines in place that have been published by the Financial Ombudsman Service – the established regulators of financial mis-selling – which state that a complaint must be made within six years of being mis-sold or three years of becoming aware of the mortgage mis-selling. However, these guidelines are subject to change if the following occurs:
- You, the claimant sent out a letter of complaint to your mortgage provider within the specified time limits
- You have evidence of a response or acknowledgement of your grievance from the mortgage company
Although these are the general guidelines associated with making a claim, we have previous experience of helping clients claim back compensation for a mortgage they invested in over 15 years prior. In some instances, you can claim back from the first initial mortgage payment you made.
